These are the bars I'm curious about:

My main question is, can you get a nice, flat ramp to your hoods? In particular if you're running Shimano. And do you like the bar?

If someone is using these with Shimano, might you be able to share a picture of the bar and hoods, just to see the hood angle? Thanks VERY much.

Yes love them. Works perfectly with 9000. I can take a pic on monday. The ergo has flat tops while the non ergo is round. I prefer the non ergo.

I have the aero version of the SL-70. The aero bar took some getting used to for my riding style (small hands and often holding the bars adjacent the stem didn't mix well with the huge flat tops), but the bar itself is fantastic. When I switch back to a standard bar, I'd likely go with this ergo version.

I can get a perfectly flat transition from the tops to my Red (pre-ergo/yaw) levers.

I tried the non ergo and hated them. I found them very uncomfortable and there is NO cable recess on the bottom, so when you are holding on at the tops you will feel the cable if your fingers are long enough to wrap the bar.
I went back to my Ergonovas.

SteveV0983 --Thanks for the info, I had been curious about these bars too. I also like the Ergonova's and Ergosum's.

Climb01742 -- Have you looked at the Ritchey EvoCurve bars? I am just putting these on a bike and I think these have great potential. They are't one of the more common bars, but my initial impressions are good. However, I don't have a real ride on them yet, but hope to soon.

Raffy--thanks for the photo! Very helpful.

Keith A--a big part of my interest in the Zipp bars is their 70mm reach. The Ritchey EvoCurves have a 80mm reach, and I have bars with that reach. Trying to find a flat ramp design with a shorter 70mm reach. Thanks, tho, for the suggestion.

I have had mine for a year running Campy. The bar has cable grooves and my hands(medium) adapted easily to the flattened tops - they fit me well. I recently tried an Easton EC70 carbon bar, didn't care for them and went back to the Zipp. I'm 66, haven't raced in 10 years and like a comfy ride. Bars are subjective but these work well for me.

My shifters are not quite flat, I rushed to get them back on after I tried the other bars.

Climb,

Have you tried the FSA Wing Pro Compacts (flat on top) or the all-round version (Omega Compact)? Not sure if those are the current names, but they're nice bars. They do flare, so the brake hoods are set a bit narrower than the drops, but transition with Shimano is very nice.

I have the previous shape SL-70 or super short reach as I think it was called on my Steve Rex. I'm a bit torn on the ergo tops. Some days I hate them others it's awesome.

I actually like this new shape better as the drops have a slight flat section like the Pro Vibe Anatomic or Deda 215/Newton Anatomic. I'm planning on ordering another pair for a different bike. I hope by now all the old left image ones are not being shipped when one buys a SL-70.

Here's another pic, this time of the hood to bar interface. Pretty flat or close in my opinion.

The previous version, I think it was called CR SSR, is slightly different than the SL-70. The differences are out there somewhere on the net.
