I mean, I will probably be fine with it eventually but at first blush, I much prefer the aesthetic of 9000.

Mid caged Dura Ace RD would be interesting to me.....if the picture is interpreted correctly?

Weird bulge on the RD where etap has the battery.

Agree. I'm of the mind that the wire could be fake, like sram did with their wireless protos.

Where is this pic from? Melbourne, or the Taipei bike show?

Looks more like a MTB RD, with the direct mount and all.

A friend of mine at shimano said next gen groupsets (dura ace) will use more carbon, ceramic and titanium.
I'll be at cycle mode osaka (one of the biggest cycle shows in Japan) tomorrow and Sunday , so I expect they'll have it on show ?!
Will try and snap a few pics

It uses an electric motor. Early test units were discovered the field this year.

Oh wow the cassette has 12 cogs, guess my 11 speed 9000 is obsolete.

I only count 11 cogs on the cassette, and this article agrees: http://road.cc/content/tech-news/181283-new-shimano-dura-ace-9100-breaks-cover%E2%80%A6-and-its-not-12-speed

Tell me that's finally a carbon crankarm and spider and Shimano's decided to join the 21st century.

I dont see a single cable and there something in that RD that makes me thing that shimano is going wirelss now. If thats the case I think that campagnolo needs to come with something super radical or low their prices to position themselves again with their new stuff or they will be gone in a few years...

Wirelss is the way to go.

I can see a cable - not clear if it actually connects to the der though.

Total teaser. If it's even real, I feel like the group is probably still in early development, and they're just gonna feed us crap like this for the next two years. Think they do that to watch public reactions to help tailor design?

Hate the all-black, unless it's carbon.. DA has always been tastefully flashy - hope it always is! Even if they go carbon (and that would be dope), I hope they're gonna splash it with silver

Their product cycle would dictate that they're due for a new DA sooner than that. I certainly hope we aren't waiting two years, too.

I would expect to see riders on prototype 9100 at this years tour

Same. In talking to my LBS owner, his expectation is this Fall we're going to see new product. I bet whatever this is, it's a lot more polished and further along in development than we think it is.

I don't know if that has been floated, but what if the new 9100 group is wireless shifting, but keeps a larger battery that is wired to derailleur's ?

If youre going to have some wires, you may as well keep all of them, otherwise it defeats the purpose.
Wireless shifting doesnt PERFORM any better than wired (if anything it shifts slower), its just easier to setup...and thats about it.

There is something to this setup. You can still have a nice long battery life for your derailleurs which take all the juice. All your shifters would need is some coin size batteriers.

The setup between the shifters and derailleurs is the biggest pain in the ass. I have been wondering why we only see shots of the derailleurs and no shots of the shifters.

Isnt FSA's group wired from the FD to the RD? The signals are all sent to the FD which then transmits to the RD as the "brain". the battery for both derailleurs is there as well, at least that's what I remember reading last summer.
