Howdy all!

Not sure if "classifieds" section needs permission, number of posts, or just a first-post elsewhere but figured I'd get an intro out of the way anyway.

I'm about a 4 year rider (minus my teen years on an old SR 10 speed) and came to riding after a running injury. Like many, I put on more & more & more miles, then starting climbing mountains, riding road races, centuries, etc.. So, ya, I'm about as sick in the head as any here. I already have too many bikes, piss the wife off with some of it and my kids are certain I stuck a spoke too far in my ear.

Anywho.......Name's Randy and I ride mostly Cannondale but have been seen on other bikes on occasion.

Looks like a good group here and love the classified's section where I can get a good window-shopping fix on a daily basis. :D

Welcome Randy

I also came into cycling due to knee injuries - not any specific diagnosed injury, but running was causing me a lot of knee pain and I decided for myself that I needed to go to something less damaging to the joints.

I ran for the first time in about 2 years last Monday... my calves hurt like HELL for almost the whole rest of the week. Glad I made the "switch," but I definitely need to remember to cross train more.

Like this? They're supposed to dangle from your earlobe, not be inserted. ;)

Thanks dead-man! One of the things I'd learned over the years is.....I started my running career fooling around on a treadmill I bought my wife. After a while, I couldn't *NOT* run out on the road though and left the TM to rot. (But the road is what really kills our joints!) The treadmill is my friend once again.

After starting cycling and slowly rebuilding my running....I'm back to running a couple times a week, only about 3 to 5 miles at a time and almost exclusively on the TM.......but I enjoy myself! I can enter a local 5K at the drop of a hat and still turn in a respectable 24 minutes so I can still "feel" a bit of a runner. But cycling has definitely taken over.

Looking for a cure but the only medicine I found so far is N+1. :D:D:D:D

The rules for posting in the classifieds are laid out in a sticky at the top of the classifieds section: http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=153038

In addition, it is always a good idea to review the general user agreement, which is posted above the forum or can be found here: http://forums.thepaceline.net/announcement.php?f=3

This is a cool place; just follow forum tradition, and forum rules, be a good contributor, and you will get along just fine.

And use  generously.

LOL! The illness knows no bounds! ;)

Thanks for the heads up Bradford!!! I was looking, but didn't look far enough, I guess. (Cycling can lead to blindness?) ;) (selective blindness of course) :D

You're never going to get anywhere like this.

On topic:
What's your preferred group set?
Where do you stand on road discs?
Got a pedaling technique question?

Off topic:
Do you have a need to carry a concealed weapon?
What do you think of those patriots?
Thoughts on tdi wagons?

Dig in and stay awhile it's a lot of fun!

SRAM.......hmmmm......my best riding buddy loves it. I've only test ridden it, but.....just not a fan. That said....(and I've screamed this from the mountain tops on other forums)....

I ***WISH*** Shimano would make larger upshift levers, not unlike SRAM's "flags". (but my quest is in vain)

The other questions are easy:

-Ultegra (duh!)

-Road discs.....yes and no! They stop great. But they're noisy and I don't like the idea of being forced into higher maintenance. HOWEVER.......I have to admit I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the taller hoods on the shifters as when I get into my power/grinding position....it's like holding onto a couple of rowing grips!!!

-My pedaling technique is.....whatever works!! I used to think that knee-knockers looked cool, but I've had my arse handed to me by old men with wide knees and low saddles so I just don't care anymore. "Lumberjack" style pedalers bother my eyes so I just focus on the wheel in front of them. ;)

-Concealed weapon = cool but once I really need one of those I simply won't conceal it anymore and brandish it like a free candy bar! ;)

-Green Bay Packers.

-Tesla > TDI Wagon
