Alright gang, I'm losing sleep over this decision. I've pulled the trigger on some 50mm wheels. I need some advice with respect to aesthetics.

My bike is a Look 675 similar to the one pictured below.

I have the choice of getting a set of non-dimple glossy 3K rims OR going with a set of 45mm dimple matt/opaque finish. This set is slightly less expensive ($70 difference).

Not so concerned about any performance differences between the two sets (I've got bigger issues than air flow over dimples). I'm more concerned with overall look.

My concern with going with glossy 3K is...well, is the bike just going to be too uniformly shiny?

My concern with going dimple is just the opposite - will the matte dimple finish clash or look weird against the rest of the bike.

Pretty sure I can't go wrong either way but wanted to canvass the broader community. What do you guys think?

Glossy 3K Wheelset (terrible pic and I would be going with a much more muted sticker style)

I know dimples do move faster through the air but wondering if they are just a place for dust to build up and give you more work to clean vs any added aero benefit.

Yeah I wondered about that too. The shop owner did say that the matte version of the non-dimple wheels required regular cleaning and were very prone to greasy finger prints, etc. Probably less visible on the dimple wheels but the dirt may collect, you are right. In addition, the accumulating dirt could add weight to the wheelset!!!! :-)

in general i think matte carbon looks better than glossy carbon.
i also prefer a UD finish to 3k.
i am a fan of the moon, also speed.

so yea, matte dimples for me
