my wife had a flat out on the open road
training for tour de kota.
her frame pump malfunctioned
and had to ride her flat tubular 4 miles home.
she took her colorado crl into the lbs
and much to our dismay
under the mount of the frame pump
the top tube had buckled!
we found this out 3 days before we leave for the tour!
our lbs owner called serotta andrew
and they have a legend st
in just her size.
it shipped out yesterday
should arrive within the next hour
and will be build up with compact campy carbon...
...and it's her birthday on flag day!
she was so sad when she heard the news about her old bike
but now is almost giddy about the arrival of her new dream bike
being made reality!
thanks serotta andrew!
strong work!

Sorry to hear about her bad luck with the old ride. But, Way to go SA! That's some good service.

I hope she has a great tour.

Great job Andrew et al.

This is the kind of "extra mile" service that will keep me a loyal customer for a long time to come. I think too many of us forget that when we buy a Serotta, we haven't just bought a bike frame, we've bought into a corporate culture that includes this forum, the people associated with it, personal contact at one time or another with people in the company, and a whole lot more.

Anyone ever met Mr. Trek? How about Mr. Cannondale?

I'm guessing lots of us have met Ben.

It's just one more example of what ownership is all about.

Soap box sermon is over now.

So Andrew, what other cool frames have you got "lying around" out there? ;)

Is there a scratched Meivici in 53TTX 53 or less ST?

Any color will do. ;)

PS I'm looking a flight schedules for Sunflower III to see how close I can get you to my arrivals and departures. I assume Delta Airlines is OK by you.

Is the Colorado CRL a steel bike? You may be able to get it fixed and have a backup bike.

the ottrott is my only bike under the owner's club service agreement...
...but i'm pretty sure we'll get that same coverage for the legend as well.
obtw,
it's perfect!
the smile on my wife's face
as she returned from her test ride
was absolutely priceless!
adding to the sweetness
was the joy of our dear friend/bike shop owner
and bojibiker, our cycling partner
putting the finishing touches on the bike
well after the shop had closed...
...it was the same sense i have experienced
delivering a baby to best friends...
how incredibly rich!!!

i think i will have the frame fixed
and then fix the frame...
...i just need to figure out the best gear ratio for my wife.
my fixie is 46/16
maybe i'll just set it up the same!

what caused the frame to buckle?

what caused the frame to buckle?

it was a fall on the railroad tracks...
...but that was quite awhile ago...
seems like it must have been
a significant front end impact like that
and then stress over time.
she has been feeling some front end shimmy
for a long time...
...but just thought that was normal
and i thought it was because the frame
was really too long for her.

She'll probably feel guilty about how much she loves her new one. That's great that Serotta can deliver. The tour sounds like a nice shake-out ride.

That is a graeat story from Serotta but really not fair to a company like Cannondale which is really into customer service and run by people who love bikes with a passion.

A few years ago a guy had just bought a CDale tourer complete with panniers and bags. He was out here from back east camping in Oregon and while camping, racoons completely trashed his bags. He called CDale and they Fed-Ex'd a new set of replacement bags into my LBS and they didn't charge him a dime.

just sayin'....

. . . Exactly the kind of service I've grown to expect from Serotta.

But . . . <<. . . racoons completely trashed his bags.>> . . . Man, that sounds PAINFUL! Reconstructive surgery? . . . ;)
