A friend of mine just let me borrow his rollers for the next 2 months. Rear wheel plops on between the two rear drums, but where should the front wheel sit? I asked google and some folks say axle over the drum axle, others say a smidgen behind.

What do you recommend?

Thanks!

Front axle a smidge behind roller axle is what i do.

I go a little behind, as well. Don't hold me to it, but I think I'm 1-2cm behind (axle to axle) on my large diameter drums (tacx galaxia).

Depending on the make of roller, the adjustment of the frame holding the front roller is perhaps an inch apart. One should be slightly behind top dead center of the front roller, as I understand it. But the variation, once you are behind tdc is really pretty easy to get used to. At least, that is my experience with Kreitlers.

Rollers are an interesting approach to training. I hope you have a good two months with them! I expect that they are not for everyone, but they work for me.

A little behind is better than a little in front. Mine is not infinitely adjustable and i settle for on top to a little behind depending on the bike. Have fun.

Hmmm...ok thanks. And tires at 100 psi?

Depends on the tires and ride, for me.
I usually run 105 for more resistance on slower cadence training, and 115 for the fast cadence spins.

I use the same psi as regular road ride. Seems to reduce tread wear that way.

There was just this thread on the same subject recently -

Stupid Question About Rollers (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=180481&highlight=rollers+front+wheel)

I read these threads with interest as I was given a nice set of Kreitler rollers 2 years ago that I have yet to try using - one of these days I just may!

Smidge behind, max pressure.
