Hello all, I have a Fuji SST carbon fiber frame set that runs a BB86, however, from the looks of it, and the measurements, the previous owner glued in a BB95 shell using some type of epoxy.

I have been researching removal techniques and so far have only come up with two viable solutions for removal.

1. Use a heat gun to warm up the epoxy and attempt to scrape off what I can, without warming it up too much that it damages the carbon fiber.

2. Use a dremel tool to carefully grind through the shell and attempt to remove the shell that way. (I'd like to say this would be my last resort, given that any slip up may compromise the carbon fiber.)

Please let me know what you think, and if you have any other solutions or recommendations, by all means, I am open ears.

Thanks!

Have you tried giving it a few good whacks using a Park Tool BBT90.3 tool or the RT-1 tool (depending upon the diameter of the cup) and a mallet? If you haven't, I would try that first before trying to heat up the frame or a dremel tool. My Specialized Stumpjumper had its PF30 cups bonded/glued in. A couple (ok, more like 10) good whacks using the RT-1 and a Mallet knocked the cups right out for me.
