Any views on Bontrager R 2 or R 3 tyres for general road riding?

I usually use Continental GP 4000's but I can get some Bontragers from a local shop for substantially less than any current source of GP 4000's.

The "pre-sale" prices seem to be roughly equivalent- what about the performance?

The R3 rides nicely. I race on GP 4000s II and have been quite happy with the Bontragers for training. They would race well too. One note -- they go on very tight and can be a real pain to remove.

The R2 is too stout a tire and I don't think you would enjoy the ride.

R3's are pretty good.
I find them similar to my GP4000S, they seem to show more small cuts but pretty good puncture resistance, grip in wet and dry. I have trained and raced on them with no issues.

I like AW3 as well, kind of like the 4 seasons equivalent.
