Painted this little guy years ago, then he wandered off and went missing, now I find him in a pile of rocks bare as the day he first wandered in! Sweet! Actually he is a Desert Yeti. He is a good monster, for the most part benevolent and very misunderstood. I will have to bring him back to life...

So, this post could tie in nicely to the "what ya bin Drinkin'" thread.

I thought about adopting this one this past Summer. However, he looked happy being out on the Olympic Penninsula, so I left him there... ;)

Oh man sorry to hear that, a man way ahead of his time. I wonder if he was related to Roald Dahl? If so, genius surely runs in the family.

Not lame at all. Merely confirmation that humans will anthropomorphize just about anything.

My favorite example of this is the videos of those "Big Dog" robots built by some company in the Boston area. In one of them a robot is negotiating a difficult hilly, rocky terrain when it stumbles - whenever I see that portion of the video (which overall is pretty cool) I can't help but feel "sorry" for it.

"A pet rock is a fun pet until you realize that it's essentially immortal and you've damned it to an eternity of watching its loved ones die"

Perhaps, but that assumes that they don't consider people like CorB to be evil kidnappers who take a rock away from its true family and keep it in a sterile, mind-numbing environment.

It's actually pretty cruel, if you think about it. Even worse than Sea World.

FREE THE PET ROCKS !!!!

While I’m name dropping Celentano, anybody remember Ornella Muti? Sometimes I wish I was born Italian.

This one is a double feature! A Skeksi or an alien…

Sorry, I enslaved them, for eternity!:D

Not only have you enslaved them, you've also disfigured some and horribly mutilated others. One of these days, when their cousins come looking for them, you'll pay the price for your cruelty.

I know you don't believe me, but here are some examples of what's happened to other rock-nappers. Your time will come, when you least expect it.

BTW, if you ever visit LACMA I suggest you not push you luck and do this - the San Andreas Fault is not that far away...

Do not have a pet rock but might as well have.

I go to Maine coast every year. My wife always says to bring back rocks...so I do. They are all over the place. On the front steps, around the front garden, around the deck, all over the place inside the house. We got lots of rocks.

I sheet you not those stone hearted PFETOR (people for the ethical treatment of rocks) folks tried a preemptive strike a little while ago. Gaia is of a different opinion, she intervened and surrounded me by two cliffs, a bit of an open sesame moment just the opposite and with rock cliffs.

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j49/PedalPusher33/IMG_0196_zpss8qwrenb.jpg

I always frequented the J. Paul Getty and Norton Simon more often, but LACMA cool too, alas oh California, la la la la…

Well I took your advice and set the rocks free. As they seemed in hurry to go anywhere I think it safe to assume they are rather fond of being here with me. They are always free to come and go as they please, I am a benevolent dictator.

Even Aron Ralston would agree with this.

Yup Maine has some choice rocks, also some amazing road biking and gravel munching in Acadia!

haha. Same here, my wife has an obsession with rocks. She collects them everywhere and they are all over the house and yard. :help:
