Do Velomax 9 speed hubs take 10 speed cassette?

I am upgrading my Gunnar Roadie's 6yr old 9 speed Shimano group to the new 10 speed Ultegra group. I have a set of 2001 Velomax Circuit that I love and would like to keep. They are light, sturdy and dependable. Are 9 speed hubs automatically convertible to 10 speed cassettes?

you just need to use the spacer that comes with the 10 speed cassette and you should be fine.
