I have a pair of Mallets which came on a bike. I need a pair of flat pedals instead. Can you take these apart and re-assemble without the eggbeater portion that lets you clip in?
Thanks

Just take them for out for ride. They're sure to fall apart!

New stuff seems better than what was put out 2-4 years ago...IMO.

They certainly had a bad run...Too bad.Love the design

Never had a set of eggbeaters? Just mallets and 50/50. Each of them fell apart several times. Some right out of the box. Similar experience with their mini pump and tool kits. I avoid crack brothers.

Rather than just being grouchy. To the OP, I have a set of black deity compound pedals I'm not using. Brand new! Make you a great deal...Certainly a true flat pedal would be better than a gutted mallet, eh?

This hasn't been my experience with crankbros stuff. I've owned two different sets of egg beaters and one set of candies, and they've only been great.

Thank you for that offer. I find I like pedals that are somewhat concave and the Deity looks as though the axle portion of the body is the thickest portion.

I've only had the regular Eggbeaters but have ridden them for years on several bikes without failure.

Done. Dremeled and the loose bits epoxied so they don't flap around

I've broken about 6 sets of eggbeaters. Always the same break, spring wears out and breaks and then the wings flap around in the wind.

Time atac is the new gold standard of reliable.

Ps- the breaking was in a matter of about 4 months.

Have you used SPDs? Tempted to try the Times, but I have had such a good experience with XT pedals that I don't know if I should switch...

Don't want to pile on but as a shop, we warrantied so many crank bros. pedals(great warranty..kinda like sram), we stopped selling them.

The exploded view suggests you can remove the spring/rattrap assembly...retaining clip only thing standing in the way?
