Is the Uniscasi essentially a CDA with S&S couplers? I am thinking about having my CDA cut and coupled...

YES and No , Serotta miters the couplers on before building the frame that way the get the butting correct on the DT and TT with regards where the couplers are located. It has been done where you build the frame and just cut it and then miter or braze on the couplers . Most do it that way and that is the only way to re-fit for couplers. Go ahead and split your CDA , for your weight I see no harm. Enjoy
