So incredibly sad for his wife. I had no idea of the death stats in that part of the country. It surprised me.

Sad for many reasons. This is the result of addiction. No one is the winner in these unfortunate cases. As pointed out by http://www.asam.org/for-the-public/definition-of-addiction no one chooses to be an addict because addiction is not a desired condition. However, the cyclist did not choose to fall victim to an addict either. Sad for many reasons for many people.

Really ?

"Stephany's attorney, Brian Gurwitz, argued that due to his altered mental state, Stephany did not consciously disregard the previous warnings he had been given about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. "

So sad. I started tearing up at the mention of her letter to her unborn child. I know junkies who have recovered and those who haven't. one of them is my best friend. literally nothing good can come out of any kind of justice, or lack thereof here. it will never bring that man back or cure people of addictions that hijack their brains. The only thing I can hope is that the family feels some kind of closure. if not now, then at some point.

Amen brother. I got slammed in the face by addiction in my family which spurred me to try to understand it. I am also a cyclist. It seems to me that you are right, Cinema. There is no winner here, just sadness for everyone involved.
