It's not often that I'm thankful we only have cockroaches and mosquitos here in FL....

A few years ago, I woke up in the middle of the night to find one of those on my pillow. Horrifying.

I have had the same thing happen. I double checked every piece of clothing before getting dressed for a while. At some point I eased up because I had forgotten about it until this post.

That's why you shouldn't leave clothes on the floor... I'm going to be bug-paranoid for a while after seeing that.

Funny - centipede vs scorpion. Who would win?

I'm already a dope no need for more dopage, certainly not this kind. Then again what if getting stung gave me battle armor, meh no use for it in cycling.

Yeah this thing was terrifying, it's called the Scolopendra cingulata. I could not ride the whole day due to loose stools. Now all of my clothes are hanging nicely, I no longer am willing to reach into my pants to fold them out. A stick with a hook at the end will be constructed shortly...

I have tracked down how this thing got into the house. Ironically I brought it in with my Campagnolo jersey which was folded neatly in another part of the house which it had access to due to a small opening under the door. Due to the rain we had lately it went a looking for a nice dry awesome place and it found it.
Anyways these things are indeed poisonous and can really ruin your day, that last pic when it lined me up in its sights it was ready to attack. Holly crap its fast, thankfully due to a slippery stone floor it could not get much of a foot hold, I flung it a good 60 ft onto the road, not even stunned that thing bounced right up and proceeded to return to the house. I got it again and dumped it in a far away bush. Next time I see one it dies, sorry PETA I like the criters too but not ones that can hurt me.

Scorpion vs. Centipede - Scorpion, quicker with more puncture power (apparently these might have trouble breaking human skin)

Who is more terrifying? Tough one but Centipede.

What a dork I am, I am bummed I did not get a pic of it next to the Castelli logo, but the bibs were flung clear across the room as I scrambled for my life and the phone.

Let me know what state you're in and I'll take it off the list!

I've had a very large cockroach in my shoe. I put it on and felt this weird wiggling and I thought my foot was spasming. Took the shoe off and the cock roach came flying out. Eck.

I am in the Mediterranean, but they do exist in the US I think more in southern and south-western states. However I have killed a Black Widow spider in New England. Creepy critters are everywhere, run a tight house and keep it clean. We lifted the door to the room 2mm and removed the old rubber squeegee thing so it would not squeak, I got around to replacing the squeegee a week later, and that was more than enough time for that thing to make itself at home in my folded jersey in the closet. I pray it's the only one. Tomorrow I am putting my stomp boots on and that room is going to get de-centipeded and I will go Raid crazy around the whole premises. Moral of the story if you got a squeaky door keep it squeaky or don't put off gluing a new squeegee till tomorrow!:crap:

Wife and I were spending a couple of months in San Pancho, Mexico back in 2007, and twice - twice! - I picked up my shorts to put them on in the morning, and a scorpion fell out. First time the shorts were on the floor, flung there the night before. Thought I had learned my lesson . . . but the second time the shorts had been draped over the back of a chair, and the bugger still hid out in them.

I put on a (leather work) glove and felt something fuzzy and damp on my finger- a woolly worm had crawled in and made a cocoon.

Lol, then the camera pans away and we see Honey put the centipede back into its jar.:p

A little update: No more monsters have been found, it could have been in the bag of wood I brought into the house. All the hair brained centipede theories are killing me.

The psychological damage is irreversible but I am taking action to avoid any further unexpected run ins with Mr.Centipede. Here is my anti-pede hook in action...

Anyone know a good patent lawyer?

I go ride my bike now. Some severe vertical flogging is in order.

i have an electric bug zapper/swatter, like this:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91oT78UzYaL._SY355_.jpg

it can kill sizable little critters like that.

highly recommended. the heck with peta, anything that can cause me harm or annoyance goes to critter heaven (or hell).

strangely nobody posted a link to Human Centipede...

those little ones are not that dangerous. baddest ones wouldn't stay alive one hour in Australia, True Land of the Dangerous & Lethal Nopes. you just learn to live with them around and get them out safe and sound of the house when they show up. good thing is they won't eat you. not until they get a bit bigger that is. or you way smaller. :D

last local nope i saw while tearing down the bathroom:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mhxdmb4jQRY/VpU0W9Ls7bI/AAAAAAAAL6I/6nHNC-SGo3U/s800-Ic42/localnope.png

seen for first the time, might be an import though.
