Does anyone have one that could tell me their opinion on the Marinoni?

Is columbus spirit a pretty midlevel steel set? Where does it compare in terms or Reynolds?

Thanks!

I think Spirit is at or near the top of the hierarchy. No idea about the specific frame but Marinoni seems to have a good rep.

You might want to PM Angry Scientist. He's got one:

This chart from Strong Cycles gives a brief overview/comparison of the various steel tubesets.

spirit is not mid-level, its the good stuff.
the go-to (along with life) for anything columbus/high-end.

I own a Marinoni Puima, it is one of the great value frames in cycling. You get one of the top steel tube sets built up on a beer budget. The value even gets better with the weak Canadian dollar.

Browsing their site, that Piuma Supreme looks SICK. English BB, tapered headtube, XXL size that would actually fit me...

I've always like Marinoni frames. They look good and are well priced. I'm still bummed I missed a 63cm lugged Marinoni SPX (I think) by about $5 a few years back. It was like $240 shipped. Would have been a perfect travel bike.

i think their prices are quite reasonable, and you won't find a nicer group of people to buy a bike from IMO.

they are just large enough of a company to ease the fear of dealing with a SMALL shop, but not so big they are a corporate nightmare. good family feel to the place when i was there picking up my bike. i'm a fan.

is this price list (http://www.marinoni.qc.ca/pdf/M15_PrixCadre.pdf) in $CAD?

if so, a stock piuma supreme is only $1046.60 at the current rate. which is a little kooky.

the piuma supreme does look awesome, guessing its built with columbus HSS (spirit) downtube and top tube, at least. very cool.

always like marinonis myself, highly underrated.

i am EXTREMELY interested to see more about the "fango supreme" and "fango supreme db" - anyone know of any pics anywheres?

If it is, $1000 USD for that Supreme is looking really hard to turn down. Good thing I have no space in my apartment for the bike I've already got on order, much less another one beyond that...

One of my custom steel bikes is mostly Spirit o/s, with some Zona. Based on a data set of exactly one and my completely unbiased deep attachment to a bike I commissioned and waited two years for, it is second only to the mane of a unicorn.

(yeah, it's the good stuff)

I was back home in Toronto for the holidays and I'm amazed there weren't more Americans around buying everything up. It's basically a automatic 30% discount. My annual MEC trip was especially sweet.

'nonis are really great bikes, their in house painting is excellent, resprays are very cheap, and Montreal is an amazing city to visit if you get the chance (the factory is just a bit NW of MTL). I've also been wondering if Guru will be dumping inventory soon - they also make (made?) great bikes in QC.

The piuma supreme is an AWESOME value in my opinion. These are excellent bikes. Just built up a regular piuma for my mom. Beautiful welds, amazing paint.

Colossi built me a custom Spirit bike this summer. I keep reaching for it over the carbon bikes in the garage 'cause it rides so nicely.

There's Spirit and there's Spirit for Lugs. No idea whether you can tell the diff if the geometry is otherwise identical -- probably not. Obviously, it'll be slightly lighter without lugs, if that matters.

I saw a local guy riding a Piuma Supreme in that same colourway - black with silver decals and DA9000. It was stunning.

It is one of the deals of the bike industry, no doubt.

No longer offering the Retro SL or any other lugged steel framesets. Bummer.
