Had a great ride today. Sixty-five mikes, beautiful weather, solid group of riders and this was topped of with a yummy breakfast from my lovely wife and we were joined by my daughter and her husband. Nice start for 2016. Pictures will be posted later.

Of course it could have been better if the Gators wouldn't have been spanked by Michigan :(

Who else got in a ride today?

Shorter ride in KC, just 25 miles. It was 35 degrees here but better than no ride at all!

Out for a little ride on the mountain tandem with the girlfriend. We rode into Boston, stopped in the north end for a bite, then back out to Arlington. Not much fun to be had off road as there were lots of frozen footprints - nothing brings up bruises like sliding on frozen footprints...

Well I had a great 1 1/2 on the trainer this morning for the new year. Technically I rode outside today. We have a covered shed I set the trainer up in and being that it was 25 deg this morning I decide to ride the trainer instead of the icy roads and crash which would be a bad way to start the new year. Any I put some music on and watched the morning unfold from a pre dawn to the sun coming up and painting a beautiful red glow onto Hurricane ridge. After all that while putting the bike and trainer away I slipped and almost fell on the frozen sweet on the floor that would have been embarrassing telling my wife I crashed while riding the trainer.
I hope everyone has a great and Happy New Year.

My wife and I did a 15 mile ride out to Fort Totten in Queens NYC today before we had to get back to cook for the family coming over. It was in the upper 30's-40's very comfortable with the right gear on.My wife has been enjoying the Serotta Fierte I found her on CL and with the addition of an Adamo Typhoon saddle, I have finally gotten her really comfortable on a bike. My weapon of choice was a Pinarello Stelvio w/Chorus 9 drivetrain, sweet!Happy New Year!:hello::hello::hello:

About 41 degrees with a breeze, I did 30 miles. I am rebuilding after August left knee replacement and January right knee replacement. I needed to start the year with some miles, no matter what. It is going to be a good year.....

rode on Dec 31 and unfortunately, as I was heading home, had an incident with an elderly driver (in a Buick, always gotta be a Buick) which, to make things brief, ended with me hitting the deck at about 1 mph.

no damage to the bike, but the right knee took a ding. nothing major, just a little road rash about the size of a half-dollar...meh, no big deal, just 'rubbed some dirt on it' and finished the ride. applied a little medicinal whiskey and didn't think much more about it.

today the knee was seriously stiff and sore (you don't get old, you just stop healing)...after limping around the house for a few hours, decided to see if a short ride would stretch things out.

just planned to just do a few laps around the neighborhood, but, conditions weren't too awful (43F) and there was almost no traffic. the knee was ok as long as I didn't push too much of a pace. ended up riding 31 miles...

It was a nice day here, but I slept in then had to work all day to keep a deal alive. Still working at midnight to be prepared for tomorrow's appointments.

This is supposed to be my year to work less and ride more. Although that was the plan for 2015 also.

New Years Day started with howling easterlies and I couldn't bring myself to face those. But today wasn't quite as windy, so I got out for 33km. Out the door at 540am and back by 7am well before the temperature climbed to the forecast 36C. At least it's a start.

Our New Year's day was 43 very nice miles on the tandem. Snow from recent storm was clear from the roads. Now must get used to salt and sand.

On vacation in Costa Rica!

Borrowed the in-law's Niner Air 9 and rode from the Playa Herradura area to Caldera.

Returned through the same route until we hit Tarcoles and then did a combo of beach and road.

2,700 feet of crazy climbs all together.

Ready for a heart/lung transplant today.... Tough but super fun ride. :)

Mid 80s yesterday with loads of sunburn. Fishing for permit/snapper this morning. Seems pretty casual in comparison.

I just got out for a little over an hour, low 20's, still some snow/ice on the roads. I was going to go longer but decided to cut it short after a couple of sliding around incidents. I just decided that it wasn't worth hitting the deck over. Need to pick up some studded tires.

Up Island to the Gay Head Cliffs, with a detour to Menemsha, where they are dredging the channel and pumping the material over a mile down the road. 38 miles. Always surprises me on flat Martha's Vineyard that this ride has almost 2,000 ft of climbing!

Got out for a decent spin on the new pug ops, over here in snowy 25degree northern NH. Came back, lowered the seat and wife took it out too. She declared it a big success. Happy wife, happy life! (I'd say happy spouse but can't think of a rhyme, happy spouse, happy house isn't quite it)

Couple of friends and we try to get out together to kick off the new year. After hanging around, eating, drinking too much coffee, etc. two of us made it this year (the third musketeer was sick).

Took the edge off a very gray, 24 deg, 15+ mph windy day. Mountain bikes were a touch more stable on the icy gravel roads. Managed to roll 20 on back roads before toes decided they didn't have much feeling left.

Did my first NYD ride yesterday (45° and a lot of cyclists on the road).
Had my 1st flat of the year 6 miles in :(, put in a new tube and completed a 30 mile ride.
(Went to the Local tavern for some Fuzzy Baby Ducks — tapped out, :crap: and settled for some Sip of Sunshine :)

The roads here were pretty frosty, so I took out the cross bike to explore some logging roads. Ended up only about a 30 mile ride with some hike a bike at the top where the snow got too deep.
I got a great view for the payoff before freezing my butt off on the long downhill home.

Got my first ride of the year in today, little 22 mile morning ride. Tried to go offroad a little with my studded tires.. not the best idea. Got a ways in OK in the shade, when I got into the sun I started breaking through the crust.. on the way back out I had a minor crash going up a hill when I lost the rear tire.

Felt cold & tired. Odd as it was a lot nicer & warmer (35ish) than Wednesday when I had rode 65 miles. It was windy today though.

Went up Mt. Diablo on NYD with some good friends, including one who was willing to go as slow as I have to go on 10 mile climbs. About 23 miles all told, with about 1.5 flattish, then 10 miles of all up (you don't want to know how long that took me), then 10 miles of all down, and about 1.5 of flat back to the car. TONS of riders and a lot of cars, with the vast majority playing nicely with each other - otherwise, it could have been a blood bath.

But, what a difference a day makes! Yesterday was warm and sunny with light winds...but today was windy, a bit chilly and I got rained on when riding home from the group. However, I did get in just under 60 miles...most of this was with a fast group and our average of a hair under 24mph...not to shabby.

I did not get out on a ride today. It was not that cold here...about 45. But, my wife and I dove down to Conowingo dam and Susquehenna river off route 1 in Port Deposit, MD. We saw eagles flying around, and in a tree, and on a tower. It was cool.

Chose a better tool today, got in 2 hours, low/mid 20's again. Less sliding around. Got to see a couple of bald eagles over the river and a great horned near the mid point.

Followed some fat bikes the last few minutes on the MUT, they seemed a lot more suited to the hard pack snow and ice, they were just rolling and I had to choose my line wisely. Looked like fun.

First ride of the year today. About 22 miles in low-30 degree temps. Roads were dry or just wet, not frozen. Also first time out in the Fugujack this season. That thing is toasty. Wear with PI Amfib bibtights and neoprene booties and body is totally comfy.
Half the miles were in NH going up river, the other half going down river.
So, what river might that be?

I went out for an mtb ride this morning with my son's cub scout den leader.

Backstory: I took a spare mtb out on one of our scout camp trips a few months ago. The den leader asks if he could borrow the spare mtb to take our kids out for a ride around the campground. It had been over 20 years since Den leader rode a bike, but really enjoyed himself.

Fast forward a few months, and his wife asks me for suggestions on an inexpensive mtb. I give her a solid recommendation and his wife buys it for him as a Christmas gift. Today, he got to ride it for the first time. Pretty cool to see another guy get on a bike and enjoy it.

My first ride for the year has not materialized yet but I am hoping to rectify that later this afternoon around 1 pm when we have a forecasted high of 60 degrees here in Austin Texas!!!

planning on riding from the house over to Bicycle Sports Shop @ Parmer to pick up an adapter for my IS disc mount to complete the gravel#2 build (see puc) and then turn around and just ride back Ronald Reagan for as long as I am able to before heading back home. Gonna be good...

weisan -- So what is the machine you are building up?

Keith pal, i honestly don't know yet...not until I get it on the road and try out its manners.
The frame was a closeout from Nashbar for $80 after discount - listed as a steel touring/rando frame. It got two things going for it which is why I got it... 1) the Bruce gordon Rock n Road 43mm tires cleared its chainstay easily with extra room for fenders. 2) it has disc mount which allows me to try out disc brakes, something I been waiting to play with for a while. So I cobbled together some parts I already got and a budget of $200 to add the frame, avid brakes, bar-end shifters and rear disc hub. I am still experimenting with the front cockpit - regular road handlebar, trekking bar and nitto albatross.

I am almost done except getting the adapter for the disc caliper so hoping to get it out for a shakedown ride this afternoon...after the 2016 ride #1.

I did a metric with the local randonneuring club. I kept wondering why some guy kept taking down everybody's name at every rest stop (two). Come to find out that's what randonneuring is all about, and this ride was their first for the season, starting with 100k. The next ride will be in March, a 200k. That might be doable for me if I put my nose to the grindstone, but I refuse to even attempt a 300k, where I will have to ride some at night. I'm not particularly fast anymore, and I'm really going to be slow at night.

If your local club offers it, try a 300 later in the year, rather than during the 2,3,4, 6 schedule. 15 hours won't have you riding in the dark later on.
