View Full Version : what rake is my Kinesis fork?

I'm trying to figure out something (go figure) about my Atlanta. The build sheet of the frame states clearly that the fork rake is 4.70 ( I think--it's really old and faded)(like me). The original fork got busted so theBike Gallery ordered me a new fork which turned out to be a Kinesis. Would that fork have had the same rake as the original Icon? The frame size is a 54. I ask because I'm thinking of buying a forum members steel csi fork from a sz 55.

Considering you have not been happy with your Atlanta, why don't you take a step back. Find out the head tube angle and buy a fork with a rake that will give you 5.9 of trail. Maybe the fork the Bike Gallery installed has the wrong rake.

In my experience ANYTHING is better than an Icon fork---WOBBLES!

What he said...........regardless of the rake those Kinesis forks ain't so good. MOST anything is better.

strip the frame, send it to one of the many good builders in your area, have them make you a fork with a pacenti crown, and see how it is then.

Does the build sheet specify the trail? Or do you know what trail you like or want for this bike? One thing you can do is go to BikeCAD (http://www.bikeforest.com/CAD/bikeCAD.html) and enter in all of your geometry specs and you can play with the fork rake and see what trail numbers it produces.

trail says 5.17 i think..what the heck does that mean?
