Pegoretti built a bike in 2007/2008 that was a tribute to Andy's 1988 Gavia ride. That's the bike Andy is talking about.

I've got a 1999 Somerville IF Crown Jewel (60cm) w steel fork that I'm looking to sell for $800. Fork is 1" and rides like a dream. Mike Flanigan welded and painted my frame originally; Tyler Evans also signed the warranty card. Frame resprayed iron ore metallic 3 years ago in Newmarket. They said my Crown J is an 11 on a scale from 1 to 10. DM if anyone's interested but you can't go wrong with a steel fork.

I always thought the bike Andy rode the '88 giro on was a landshark ????Andy says in the article that he was riding a Landshark.

RBA: What were some of the most notable race bikes you rode?

Andy: The Eddy Merckx made of Columbus 753 that he built for me post Tour '91. I crashed it the first day out in a race in Britain and bent it. That bike had the mojo! Oh and my John Slawta built Huffy at the '88 Giro. I bought it just before the race and it was like a horse finding the barn in the snowstorm on the Gavia. I love my old steel bikes! I can't wait to get my Pegoretti built Gavia '88 Hampsten bike next year.

Speaking of 7-Eleven Team bikes. I have one, albeit as a frame and not as a full bike - I'd never ride anything but Campagnolo even back then. Bought new from I don't know how many years ago. It was my first and only Serotta. Never any interest in the zenith of Ben's glory years as a halo bike maker with bikes like the titanium Ottrott. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

No siree. A plain 'ol racebike was always my temptation. I still have this frame.
