So, I'm chafing at owning 1 bike presently. I have a line on a neato CX canti rig locally, but want to run it with a flat bar (more accurately, a bull-moose bar) as, what I call a "grinder all-round super fun bike".

The bike is SRAM Force equipped, with Shimano CX cantis. What are my options for shifters / brakes on a bullmoose bar? I think SRAM mountain shifters pull the same ratio so I might be able to use those--how about brakes? Ooh, I'd love XTR V-levers...would those work? AVID ULTIMATE V-LEVERS? Holy cow, now I'm excited.

Also: am I crazy? (hint: probably).

You'll need short pull flat levers for canti use, long/v-levers if switching to V-brakes. Mountain parts are the way to go!

Do V-brakes mount on CX canti bosses the same they might on MTB canti bosses?

Yes, they can be used on the same.

Yes as soon as you're getting rid of the brifters and going to the flat bar switch to Mountain bike V-brakes and matching mountain bike levers, much better power and modulation. Don't bother with mini-v's or cantis if you can run mtb levers.

Yep, same exact bosses.
