Hi,

I've got this old serotta that a friend gave me and I'm trying to find some background info as it does not seem to obviously be any particular model. It also has a couple things that I haven't really seen anywhere on the forums or in google searches.

It appears to be an early 80's Nova of some sorts. The things that I have not seen elsewhere are:

Shimano dropouts. I've only seen this on one other bike, which people couldn't seem to identify either.

Tange decal on seattube. This is gone, as are all the decals (it had Yellow Serotta on DT, Serotta with oval outline on ST, and S on HT previously). Nothing on the DT, which may have been peeled off before my friend got it, who knows.

Bottom bracket shell (although one post mentioned the same engraving in the diamond shape. It also has 2 grooves cut in it for cables with no loops or above bb shell guides which seem common on similar frames.

Serial number does not seem to match up with anything and predates the more modern system.

The brake bridge looks very similar to some others, but it does not have the stamped S. I peeled back the paint on the bottom and it does read "BREV." followed by what appears to be 3 more letters I can't read/get a good photo of.

Fork-Chrome, stamped S, and no lugs. Seen some without lugs, but no stamps. It has a range made in japan stamp on the steerer.

Other info on the bike: The headset is not original. 126mm spacing.

Please, let me know what you think, or if you've seen one like this.

At first glance, I would have said not a Serotta because of the Shimano dropouts, but the fork having both them and the engraving makes me think it could be one after all. It could be a 1984 frame as I found another example that has a serial number beginning with 4. The Serottas I've seen from the early 80s had above BB cable routing, except for Titans. The Titan was all Tange, but according to the '85 catalog had Tange dropouts. I have one catalog page from an unknown earlier year, but all frames are 531 with Campagnolo, Mavic, or Milremo dropouts. Titans in the classifieds have been described as old as 1978, so perhaps that allows for the Shimano dropouts. So a Titan is my best guess.

I saw the photo of that white Titan and suspected it may be one of those, but couldn't find anymore info. Stumbled on this today, appears to be more pictures of Chris Wimpey's bike.

Fork and brake bridge are identical. No top tube decal.

Anyone have more info about the Titan's? Or maybe a catalog from that era?

Thanks

I think there's a 1985 catalog in the catalog section. There's some info on the Titan in the dealer pages at the bottom, but no pics.

Anyone sharp enough to ID the dropouts on Chris Wimpey's frame? He's a professional photographer, might have more pics if you message him.

The brown fixed gear that U-man posted looks a lot like your frame to me, including the chrome fork.
