I bought a Fierte over the weekend and it had this hub on the back. It doesn't look like any of the other Powertap hubs I could find and I am not sure what it is. There was no computer with the bike, just the hub and several sensors (speed, cadence etc). Do you guys know what this thing is and does it have any value? I pulled all the sensors and the wheelset.

It's an original Powertap. Google sharkfin Powertap or wired powertap to your heart's content. Is it worth anything - not really. Will it tell you power? Yes. Only challenge is that I don't think you can download from the head unit to say Training Peaks.

What file format does the LYC use to record?

Edit: Looks like Golden Cheetah can import whatever file format it is...

You can download using an old wired PC interface. I may have an older head unit around. Powertap was taking the as trade-ins toward new units. I'm not sure if it still is. I have one I'm my basement too.

It's an old wired hub called the Powertap Comp. Call Saris. See what they will do for you. The OEM hub may limit your options.
