Oh Happy Day! #1 son "got out" yesterday as part of GT's 250th Commencement. Graduated B.S.M.E. with High Honors. Couldn't ask for more...

You should buy yourself a new bike...you've earned it.

Thanks, guys. He was a little sore he wasn't in a position to grab fa63's Colnago a few months back, but hopefully his graduation present will soothe the pain (new Roubaix). Nothin' new for me, for now:D

Here's to a mild December and catching up on some lost ride time. Today's a rest day but tomorrow we ride! Off till Jan. 4!!!

Congratulations, that's a great day for the family. I'm a Yellow Jacket also, Aerospace '95. I would be thrilled to pieces if my daughters went to GT.

Gongrats! Does he have a job yet?

I'm hoping one of my kids chooses engineering. Very difficult, but rewarding career.

Not yet, but he's working a couple opportunities. Interviewed with a local mechanical design firm (commercial, multi-family, hospitals, etc.), a route my longtime riding buddy strongly advised against (having left the business before getting a Masters in Nursing from VU and spending the last 20 yrs as a critical care nurse). Much more rewarding, no working with architects!

He worked 3 semesters co-op with a J&J company in NE Georgia, which served him well. Has a local interview Tuesday (manufacturing), being flown to Madison, WI Thursday for another (software). Nashville market is rich with projects and investment; GM Spring Hill adding staff, Beretta coming to Gallatin, Remington to Huntsville, AL. May take a little time but it will come.

Getting my B.S.C.E. and P.E. about killed me. But it's been a good career with no shortage of opportunities along the way. Consulting side can be a grind but most jobs are. No regrets.
