Campy 10 Speed Bar End Shifter Left Side Friction?

Is the left (FD) shifter indexed or friction or both/switchable? Looking for a pair without cracks, hoping to use this with White Industries VBC crank so I'm thinking friction shifting would be better. I know the right (RD) is indexed.

Left is friction only. It seems the plastic on the housing will crack eventually but it's just a cosmetic issue.
