Who are the best makers of cool bike baskets? I like the Portland Design Works TakeOut basket. What else out there combines good engineering, function, and style?

I have this basket and while it's pretty cool its very small and doesn't clamp to all my bars well, especially those that have a taper by the clamp. The bag rules, but I prefer a Wald.

Yikes, not cheap and apples and oranges but for $30 more..and titanium(rack).

I'm converting my old Klein Pinnacle to a coffee shop brew pub vehicle. I'm pretty sure I want a basket and not a bag.

The fork has fender eyelets but no rack eyelets nor does it have a hole drilled at the bottom of the crown -- thus I'm looking for something which can attach to the bars.

I'm wondering if there is anything else out there beyond the Portland TakeOut.

I found it on clearance but it was still $60. Good for lunch and a few things, or its intended EtOH purpose, I have a long U-Lock so I have to tilt it up about 10 degrees. Maybe I will get more use out of it when I'm not in school and don't have to take textbooks, laptop, and other supplies with me. On my two city bikes I like keeping the weight in front.

Do you have canti breaks?

Also look at the Wald 1392, but it can be wobbly and many people don't like the looks. You could try this: https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/rivbike/basket_for_site2.jpg with this: http://www.niagaracycle.com/categories/sunlite-gold-tec-front-rack-sillver

This looks cool but won't work without some hacking: http://www.statebicycle.com/collections/bike-baskets-racks-fenders/products/state-bicycle-co-front-basket

The Paul basket is great but pricey (I picked one up on clearance and it still wasn't cheap). It really will hold a full case of beer perfectly though obviously steering gets a little funky when that loaded. I also have an origin 8 integrated handlebar basket that works well if you need mountain bike style handlebars.

That's an excellent way to do a basket -- sturdy and light-ish. I've got a bike with exactly that set up. But the price of that Nitto (?) rack holding the basket is steep. I've got one of these too, sort of a Wald done right: http://www.niagaracycle.com/categories/sunlite-woody-front-basket. The handlebar clips aren't ideal and may take some fiddling and/or brute force to work on some bikes.

Unlike the Wald, the supports are made of infinitely adjustable threaded tubular pieces not pressed steel. They make a version without the wood inserts too -- lighter and not quite as stylish.

Wald.

All the hipster baskets use ridiculously huge gauge steel tubing and are unnecessarily heavy.
