Huh?

Happened on the fourth stage of the Yunnan Gryffindor International Cycling Race in China. Apparently the lead group somehow deviated from the course and came around from the opposite direction when the second group was sprinting for the finish.

Well that was a butt clencher! That's what happens when you ride Visp bikes. All common sense goes the way of the dodo!

I get a little queasy just watching group sprints in person. Head on is a recipe for fatalities.

Did you see how far that bike bounced down the course?
The energy required to hurl a 20 pound bike 100 feet is enough to do very serious damage to a human being.
If there were no life threatening injuries, it seems like they were pretty lucky all things considered.

Geesh that's bad. The odds of finishing the sprint at the same time is pretty insane too. I've been in one race where we ended up in traffic because of a mismarked course, I was in the break too and we all lost our chance because of it, but damn... Nothing like that.

I'm having a hard time even coming up with how something like that could happen.
