i always appreciate a good pair of socks. an inexpensive gift that you can put some real thought/customization into, and you know they'll fit.

My book (http://www.velopress.com/books/fat-tire-flyer/) is $30.

Here is a review.

I really like my Darn Tough socks.

Depending on the rider, you could also consider a refresh of his/her saddle bag and its contents. New multi-tool, co2 inflator, tire boots, patch kit, etc.

For a little more money, I'd suggest the Impero pump. I don't think I could pull the trigger for myself but I'd love to receive it as a gift!

As both a cyclist and a wine guy, I would NOT want this. Yes, I understand the attraction, but this is all IMHO for show and takes up too much space.

> gloves

Yes, the big question on cork screws is the length of the worm. Many times, a well built waiter's corkscrew with a good long worm is the best functional tool for removing corks.

A former intern once gave me something like this:

Yeah perhaps a bit glutunous, but it is the best TOOL in my kitchen: highly accurate with self centering action; vertically compliant and laterally stiff.

But really, I have used many cork screws and nothing comes close to the consistent accuracy of the Big Campagnolo Cork Screw...it's not a show piece, its a very well made tool.

IMO there is no better present for a cyclist @ <$100 range

I would prefer not getting a gift rather than receiving cash or a giftcard (yes, I am serious). That just means the person is too lazy to think about what to get you.

What if it's a gift card to your LBS?

I'm of the mind that if someone wants to give me the gift of shopping at a store I like to frequent, I'll gladly take it.

This bell is a great gift. Many folks would not pay that much for a bell for them self and dismiss it as an extravagance which does not deliver. Not so. From the design, to the packaging, to the sound, the little bell is apple-esque. I got one on sale last year and it is really great. the only probelme? I'd like 3-4 more...no way I spend that much. happy with ONE.

Uh, okay. But my answer was meant to be tongue in cheek. I guess that didn't come through.

I would recommend a Road ID to anyone who rides, runs or does any out door sports. And kids too.
