the intro, I mean?

Absolutely love the look of this new Alfa, though.

Would you buy one? I mean, the brand?

Looks like a e90 series or the new F series 3 series from this angle. If the price is right and I get inside and see the Italian interior, I may plunk down money for one. Something different with 3 different engine models. You know the interior is going to be super nice!

I really want a E90 M3 sedan with a roof rack, but the MPG stories got me shook. I should have never sold my E46 M3. Perfect car for daily driving and I used to make it to SF from LA on a tank of gas.

well, as a rule, i dont buy new cars anymore, so that rules it out off the bat. i'm pretty happy driving a euro sedan with roof racks as my daily driver, but i'm well educated in the horror show of obscure euro cars as daily drivers. BMW and VW which i own, have a good US presence and aftermarket support structure. buying into something relatively new like this could be a nightmare for the car enthusiast.

short story is no way until the platform has some very real miles on it.

White?

Do they make a color other than red? :D

I read somewhere that one of these set a record at Nurburgring...

No longer much of a 'car guy', but that got my attention.

Alfa doesn't have a huge presence in the states, so dealing with that could be a bummer. Warranty issues, parts and dealership quality.

That car looks super nice and sounds promising from a brand with an extensive history.

I had a 2001 330i with a 5sp manual and I still miss it to this day.

I bought a Topaz Blue 2002 325iT sedan last year.
It's got a five-speed and the ZSP sports package which are as rare as hen's teeth in the wagon.
I've since replaced basically everything that needs replacing in the engine (Cooling system, VANOS, CCV, DISA, fuel pump, valve cover gasket, throttle position sensor) and the entire suspension (Koni FSD/Eilbach/ZHP control arms) as well as upgraded the interior with M3 wheel, ZHP shift knob/gator/ebrake and topped it off with a Rogue Engineering Ikon exhaust.

Honestly, I can't really imagine a car that'd make me happier than this e46 given that I often carry two adults and a dog, not to mention a bike or two.
It's not quite an M3 but it's got most of the fun bits from a ZHP.

Not bad for a car that cost as much as a (very) nice bike.

This pic predates the suspension work, so the car sits about 3/4 of an inch lower in the front an about half an inch lower in the back. Those wheels are now on my snow tires and it's wearing 5 spoke Type 119 wheels and a Yakima bike rack.

If you're the kind of person who leases a new car every 2 or 3 years...why not?
Nice looking car.
I tend to own vehicles for a long time, so I would be not in the market.

Bmw e46 wagons are very nice cars imo. I recently sold one (not mine since i don't like to have a car unless a really special one), and for the money you can buy them for they are bargains.

my son is getting ready to inherit my old e39 wagon.

Love this old car. (this is an old pic, it looks less pretty now, but is still a great car)

It sounds like the four cylinder versions won't be a available with a manual. Somehow defeats the purpose of a Alfa, I think.

Love the e39.
I was *this* close to buying an e39 540i sedan--essentially an M5 Lite--for $5K, but my knucklehead neighbor blew up the cooling system--and hence the whole engine--before he could sell it to me.

Too bad the F10 5-series wagon never made it to the US.

I'd buy one. My boss bought one of the first 4Cs in the country and he let me drive it - my oh my, what a ride. Not practical at all but a hoot to drive, go-kart handling, great acceleration and it makes such a beautiful sound. The Giulia is more my speed as the 4C has enough cargo room for one (1) suitcase. As far as reliability goes, who knows? time will tell. I wouldn't expect it to be on the same level as, say, a Honda though... if you need a daily driver, buy a Civic.

Would I buy one? Heck yes. That Rubicon was crossed a long time ago. Of course the one I have now is a '73. It's my second Alfa. I used to have an '87 Spider but sold it when I moved into an apartment and didn't want to pay for two parking spots.

Before I bought the GTV (I haven't had it that long) I briefly considered a 4C but the price and the "boy racer" looks convinced me to go with the more sedate and more affordable option.

Looking for my first real car back in high school, I looked long and hard at a GTV before settling on a 2002. I always loved the style, and I would still like one (and a bigger garage).

The rear is similar to the very non-Alfa Kia Optima...

Yes a bit much but its Italy that's how they roll, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Gorgeous cars, would I own one? Yes, if I lived in Italy and could afford one. Love that language I failed to learn it but love to pretend, some day I will learn it good. You could curse at me all day in Italian and I would wallow in the beauty.

If they could sort out just when it'll be here, I might be inclined. But I'm more intrigued by the looming Jaguar 3-series fighter that seems to be coming with a definitive release date.

I'd love a 4C if I didn't, yanno, need at least the pretense of room for things other than myself.

Historically, Alfas have been high style, high performance, and low quality (lots of reliability and maintenance issues). Where I grew up (South Africa), they were also very expensive to maintain. That was 20+ years ago. Don't know anything about Alfas today but I like the way they look and are supposed to perform.
