I seem to be accumulating quite a collection of carbon forks. Looking for ideas on how to store them safely. What do you do?

Buy more frames that need forks.

Make a rack for them... use a piece of wood and drill 1 or 1 1/8 holes to them each 5 inches and you will be good to go.

now that's an "original" idea! :hello:

I have heard of pals having problems storing bikes or wheels, but never forks, this is the first!

bjf pal, would you like to submit your entry to the contest? :D

I dont have spare forks but if I did
- they would be rolled up in bubble and boxed
- hung via some kind of wire tie or eye bolt using the brake bolt hole
- hung via a cheap stem clamped onto the steerer
- clamped into a series of QR's mounted on a 2x4

I thought of your second idea, but I don't have any more hanging space. But I like #3 -- I'll make a wall rack to hold the stems -- I have too many of those also. Will post photos when it's done, unless an even better idea comes along.

lets say you clamp old stems to each steerer...you could run a 1" PVC through all the stems and then bolt or pipe clamp the whole thing to your wall 2x4. for more protection wrap the lower fork legs to the tips with a small section of pipe insulation

-"porcupine" of PVC bends, tees and pipe in the corner, if floor space allows, forks standing vertical
-PVC or cardboard "wine rack", tubes of appropriate size stacked vertical, forks slid inside individual tube. Tubes on their side between overhead floor joists, if your workspace is in garage/basement?
-The nice cherry TV armoire that sits unused in the corner? Someone's recent Concorde build used this approach.

I have steel tandem forks that are bubble wrapped and sitting on a shelf in a humidity controlled environment.

FIFY... They must be Italian forks.

Pretty good :D but no. Forks are from Washington state.

I store them in the boxes that aftermarket forks are packaged/shipped in. Enve boxes are pretty low profile. Fortunately, my LBS builds a lot of custom bikes, so they get a lot of fork boxes. I would imagine that a more traditional LBS that builds mostly complete boxes would get fewer aftermarket forks (and therefore boxes).

THIS is how I store MY forks:

What's so difficult about that?
