I know humans have actually done it. I mean anyone on here.

If you have, I'm curious about your experience. How long did you train? Etc.

Call me a masochist but I've hired a coach to train me to do it sometime next year. I'm 2 weeks into training and about to do my baseline 20 minute TT test.

Yes and no. I've time trialed for an Hour, but not on a track and not with a fixed gear bike.

I used to do the 40km USCF state time trials held annually. Best time for me was 59:18. Only time I broke an hour.

I do know how it feels to get off a bike after time trialing for an hour.

It's not pleasant.

I just did a shot of beer every minute for a hour once.... Does that count?

7.5 beers in an hour is not that impressive, gross but not impressive.

Depends on how big the shots were and what kind of beer it was ;)

Hour in the track is a lot different than hour in the road.

Check out the latest Velo magazine. One of their writers does it. Lots of good info.

Go for it! I'm curious about training methods.

If you need some inspiration, try and find a way to see the Man on Fire Movie: 75-year old frame maker Marinoni tries and breaks hour record. No DVD yet but hopefully soon.

Oh I'm going for it. So far, lots of intervals of different types and long-ish easy rides on the weekends. It will get worse.

I have got to see that movie! Thanks for posting that.

My mind can't take 1 hour on rollers at moderate effort. I shudder to think how horrible 1 hour would be. I'm curious at what % maximum heart rate is sustainable over an hour.

I'm curious about HR and sustainable power as well. We have a long way to go before we get to the date so I'm sure we'll be getting deep into this kind of stuff as time passes.

The spin bike I'm using for the winter has a watts measurement. I don't know how accurate it is but as long as I'm using the same bike it should be comparable. It will be interesting to translate those numbers to track gearing once I'm able to get back on the track again.

It's going to be a sufferfest, no doubt. But I can do it for an hour (I think/hope) :help:

Theoretically, 95% of your 20 minute FTP is what you can sustain for an hour. That always seemed tough to me.

Got yourself a coach? Good on you! Good luck w/the training and the hour effort.
