I acquired this from a fellow Paceline poster about 5 years ago. I built it up and rode it for less than 100 miles. Like most of you, I have too many bikes and need to sell some off. First up is this green Spanky built in 1997. Size is 56 cm measured from center of BB to center of TT, or about 57 to the top of the TT. Also, the BB is stamped 56XX. TT length is 58 cm (C-C). Head tube is about 149mm, the painted area in-between the head set. Includes Dura Ace head set, seat post clamp, & down tube shifter cable adapters with barrel adjusters. Other specs.

* Chainstay length = 41.5cm
* Head tube angle = 74 degrees
* Seat tube angle = 72.5 degrees
* Wheelbase = 99.75cm
* Seat post = 27.2mm
* Rear spacing = 130mm
* Front derailleur = 28.6mm clamp
* 1 inch threaded headset

Asking $600 INCLUDING shipping, which we can negotiate depending on distance. Shipping would be from San Diego area. Local pick up is welcome.

I added an octopus decal on the top tube. Frame has some minor scratches from use, but they're hard to find. See pics. The rear brake bridge shows wear from where the tire rubbed it down a bit. I tried a too large rear tire for awhile.

Reduction in price. Price now includes shipping to contiguous US. Out side of that area, we can work out the shipping. Wow! I just noticed that there's more than one Spanky for sale out there.

Hey, that looks like the one I sold you in March 2010.
(Good buyer back then, I'd say. Offered to pay extra for shipping, unasked, if it had cost me more...a gentleman.)

Interesting about the sizing for first-generation Ibis Spanky road bikes, where your olive one is a distinctly different size than the dark-purple one I'm selling...even though both could be seen as 56cm, depending on whether you're measuring the seat tube or the top tube.

GLWYS.

Dave, who says this one and the one he's currently selling do not mean he doesn't like Ibis Spanky or Sonoma road bikes on the contrary since he's still keeping five of them which indicates instead how much he loves these bikes but kind of over-invested in them.

Thanks for the good word. I didn't mean to compete with your listing, but there are differences between these Spanky frames. You do have a lot of experience with bikes on Paceline, and I may have purchased more than one bike from you in the past. I will probably push this to the big Bay after the weekend since I don't participate too much on this forum. I simply need to make room for the bikes I ride the most often. Good luck with your sales!

It would be a dream come true if it were a cross frame.

Going over to the big bay, but willing to accept offers from Paceline members.

What sort of tire clearance do the frame and fork have?

I had a pair of 28 mm tires on the bike. Ran them under 60 PSI on the rear and it fit fine. Based on that, 25 mm would probably be the max, depending on the tire. Front has more clearance.

Did this sell on the bay?

Nope. I still have it and contemplating keeping it or waiting until the spring to list it again.
