I say Ripley. For those that do not get cycling, they may think it's an "Aliens" reference, in which of course it is, then I am lame.

Also, Mayo may sound too close to "No!" and I heard you do not wanna confuse the little fellas....

Tiny little fella....

In our house, we have always taken the position in naming pets that you have to live with them for a little while to let their personalities come out before deciding.

Cats seem more resilient than dogs to having a name change after a week or 2, but it also depends on their age.

Picutres and or the breed(s) involved will certainly give us all a head start.

You type faster than me.

Definitely looks more like a Ripley than a Mayo to me.

i have always held aside "quigley" as a dog name, but i'm thinking that's a "little dog" name not a medium-sized dog name. i'm touched in the head.

Ripley. It's a good name regardless of its association with the toughest chick in sci-fi history.

Of course, I have a somewhat overfed little corgi named Daphne. Consider the source...

Would you like to be called Ripley or Mayo or Alien if you were a woman? Call her Jen or Angie or Janis or Marilyn or Norma Jean or Simone or Liz or Jennie or M'Lisse or Cherlize or outright Angelina, atmo. She looks beautiful. She looks smart and fit and healthy, she reminds me of a girl friend I had, iirc.

Aren't you supposed to use the street name you grew up on and your favorite stripper?

Woodsview Cheyenne - that's a great dog name

thanks guys and gals. can always count on you for dog wisdom (and you do OK with cycling too). the puppy is all boy. Ripley was her last name in the movie, remember? -- not that i'm naming him after Aliens, but still.

Oh C'mon...

There must be a hungarian name you could give him...

Dasco or Benci or Gellert or something like that?

Actually...I named my last pup Sprocket.
:)

Lots of spacely jokes from those not into cycling, but other than that a good name for a dog.

A Vizla (Vizsla) is a gorgeous dog, with a beautiful golden rust color. There is one in my neighborhood- Well muscled, strong, extremely alert, energetic, and intelligent. It is very unhappy when it is not with its family, and it verbally lets the neighborhood know when the family is out of town and the dog sitter is not doing an adequate job in caring for it.

A simply splendid specimen of a dog. Be prepared to exercise the Vizla, as that is one of its great needs. It has tremendous stamina.

:) Bow Wow Sandy :)

you bet. priority one is teaching him to swim. our gsp was a ball of fire unless we worked in an hour or two of frisbee or swimming a day

I don't like the name of Mayo at all. Reminds me of a sandwich spread. I do like Ripley. Neat sounding name.

Of the two given choices, I much prefer Ripley. As much as I love Mayo on my French Fries, I don't quite get it for a dog's name, especially not this little guy! However, Quigley is fun, and if it matches the dog's personality then it shouldn't matter what size the dog is. You might find that this dog is squirrely and spunky and that Quigley is a perfect fit, or if more reserved, that Ripley sounds more proper.

P.S. I have never seen Alien, and my next boy dog will more than likely be named Chester Copperpot.

Congrats!!

My Vizsla (Cooper) will be 11 yr in August. They are great dogs and great with kids if that matters to you.

Get ready for the excercise... your dog will demand it. When Cooper was a pup I used to be able to take him for rides on teh MTB for up to 30 miles and he would barely be panting. now hes a gray couch potato.

Geoff

oh and I like Mayo because it makes everything better.

Funny story (and true): Friends of ours couldn't decide what they wanted to name their newborn son, so they took him home from the hospital with the official name "Baby Boy," pending their final choice. (I had never realized this was even permitted. Go figure.) Anyhow, we hadn't seen them for a few weeks, when my wife bumped into the mom and asked what name they settled on. She said they were still "trying out" various names, calling the kid a certain name for a couple of days to see how he responded, then moving on to another. That was about 2 years ago.

They moved a short while later, so we haven't seen or heard from them for over a year. Wonder what name the little guy has this week....
