Looks like a full array of events and seminars. Doug Fattic's presentation on lug cutting (Sunday, 11/8 10:30AM, Exhibit Hall E Booth #3003) sounds particularly interesting.

Each year this event seems to grow and get better. It started out in a cold damp old military building and has grown to the convention center. Don' t eat at the convention center, instead walk to the Reading terminal market instead

compared to the exhibitor list AS OF TODAY for 2016 NAHBS, the Philly show appears to be (IMHO) MUCH MORE INTERESTING

would love it if someone could post a show "report" next week

We did this last year. Nice to get a Philly cheese steak, but be ready to fight the crowd. I couldn't believe how busy it was. We will be going on Sunday this year.

I went in 2013 and am planning on going back again this year (probably Sunday). I was looking at the exhibitor list a couple days ago and was shocked at the growth in just two years. Bina Bilenkey and her team do a great job.

One of my favorite booths from last year:

As long as I get my act together quickly and don't miss my train out of Newark this afternoon, I'll be there. Philly has grown to be more than mini-NAHBS, and should be a rewarding visit for any lover of fine bicycles.

Thanks for the pics...this is how NAHBS #3 was...way back when. I def prefer the Philly style to the overblown NAHBS 2015-16 version.

This was our second year for the Philly Bike Expo. I doubt we will go to another NAHBS unless it is really close.

Dave Wages would get my money if I were looking for a custom builder at the show. The coupled Di2 HYdro bike for has fiance was perfect. Sorry, no pictures.

I enjoyed talking with Doug Fattic about his class and the possibility of building my own frame some day.

WE bought 2 t-shirts from Winter Bicycles and I got a Walz wool cap.

Food trucks inside the expo center was a great idea.

No worries! Got most of the builders' bikes posted today. Maybe finish the stragglers tomorrow...

Enjoy!

In my experience, when it's put together by the Bilenkey family, you've got a better than fair chance that "vibe" comes included as standard equipment.

I put together a few bikes for Stijl cycles this year. Hopefully next year I'll make it up there with him.

I enjoyed going to the Philly show. I was impressed that the younger builders are really upping their game. What they had on display showed really fine craftsmanship. Better as a whole than I have seen at past shows.

I expect the show to continue to grow. It is more builder friendly with fewer rules and booth cost and less backdrop expected to display. Their fantastic bikes spoke for themselves. Bina took event planning (I'm not sure of the exact name) in college and has the knowledge and personality to run a good show.

I enjoyed the discussion panel of 7 builders. 4 were guys and 3 were women. Simon Firth of Hanford bikes asked each one how they learned and what inspired them. I was surprised everyone except Dave Wages had taken a frame building class or two (Julie even gave me a shout out). He also asked about their worst injury while building bikes. Hot flux or frame part has apparently damaged some tattoos.

I had a nice little group of mostly frame builders attend my lug cutting seminar. I´ve refined the process over many years and gave them a handout with all the steps and tools necessary. I convinced the Nikko lug company to make me a bunch of blank lugs which I sell as a fundraiser for our Ukraine Bicycle Project. The builder doesn't have to be the lug designer or cutter. Anyone can try and some have done a really good job. A lot of my frame building class students have created their own designs out of these blank lugs.

Great pix, Bringheli looks like he's reaching for his 'piece'...

Never been there but we do have a smallish show here. NAHBS has gotten weird. Doubt I'll ever go to another..didn't even go to the one in Denver.

I thought the show was excellent and quite a bit larger than last year's. My top 3 faves: Chris Bishop, Dave Wages, and an extremely nice paint job on a refinished Kirk Terraplane done by a couple of folks out of Toronto (sorry - forgot their name). And I did break down and bought a new Silca product: a nice t-shirt with the retro logo....

Thanks, Doug. That was some of the most highly-detailed, clean, and tasteful paint that I've seen anywhere...
