Hi All.

Is it possible that spin bikes like this have a power curve?

Or, are power curves only for bike trainers?

I have used spin bikes like those in the past that had a "wattage" metric displayed on the attached computer, but I've always been skeptical of the accuracy of those.

Kurt Kinetic used to have a power simulation formula on their website. According to them they designed the fluid resistance to simulation power required to overcome wind. So their formula represented speed of the rear wheel on their trainer to the power required. Kurt does make a pseudo power meter that basically takes the speed of the rear wheel on the their trainer and reads out power. It is not a replacement for a true power meter.

The "bike" you linked to appears to use a brake pad of sorts to provide resistance. It would be possible to map out the power curve but it wouldn't remain accurate.

Hi Joachim.

At this stage, this spin bike is my only option indoors. Looking at the NEO soon and a dedicated bike for that.

I am still considering the option to retain the spin bike for hard core out of saddle sprint intervals. Do you think the spin bike would be better suited to this application over the NEO (without ERG mode)?

I thought you already had the second bike and the Neo.
