Live in KC, I'm 61 and they've won it once in my lifetime. Really special time!

this thread is all sorts of sad for tri-state folks.

I was never a KC fan, but have to say this team has won me over. Old school baseball at it's best. Plus you have to love any time a team from NY suffers.

I'm having a hard time feeling good about KC's success after they knocked
out my Blue Jays, but the Royals are a great team who are playing great baseball.

I was frustrated by the approach of Toronto pitchers against the KC hitters,
who clearly demonstrated the ability to hit anyone's best fastball. It's been
interesting that the Mets are basically replaying out the same approach against
the Royals that didn't work for the Jays.

The pundits usually say great pitching stops great hitting, but the KC Royals have
been incredible at manufacturing runs. Impressive stuff.

Great pitching can be outdone when you put wood on the ball against a mediocre defence.

A NYT story on A-Rod as part of the pre-game show for Fox

http://nyti.ms/1PeonDS

"The Fox pregame team: Kevin Burkhardt, left, Alex Rodriguez, Ra? Iba?z, Pete Rose and Frank Thomas."

One of the comments from a reader regarding A-Rod and Peter Rose:

"Where's Lance?"

not a Met hater by any stretch. This Royals team is really fun to watch!! Relentless at the plate, phenomenal in the field. Tough group not to root for!!!

Glad Matt Williams got sacked. Not a fan of Bud Black. That Bryce Harper is a Play'a! Go Royals! Look forward to seeing them against the Nats!

Consistently entertaining to the victorious end . . . what a performance!

IMO, Perez is the best modern era (meaning the last 30 or 40 years) catcher, and counts among the best of all time. He is a joy to watch and brought a level of play and enthusiasm to the game that is incomparable. Love the guy.

Congrats to the Royals. They were the best.

I will not use the "r" word (http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/11/02/resilient-royals-never-gave-up-never-quit-world-series/75027794/)*, because if I hear it one more time I'll be throwing up all over again, but they are insanely painful and frustrating to watch when they are playing your team. That's probably the best compliment I can pay them.

(* = and every broadcaster and journo who overuses it should be lashed for laziness and lack of imagination)

Anyone Cardinals fans going to weigh in on this?

Not a Cardinals fan and yes, Perez is really good but not even a toss up when considering Molina, IMHO, of course. Certainly not considering the 30-40 years comment. Gotta include Bench and Fisk along with others.

As a lifelong Mets fan, congrats to the Royals. They were the (MUCH) better team.

Perez is a great catcher for sure, but Yadi's value to the Cardinals franchise extends beyond his presence behind the plate. The guy has been instrumental to the development of every pitcher to come through the ranks during his tenure.

I'm not biased, of course.

Still, great series and a great team to watch. Enjoy it, Royals fans.

I was in law school in St. Louis in 1985 and was rooting against the Cardinals. Still root against the Cardinals [of every sport -- football (AZ), college football (Stanford -- I don't care about Louisville), and baseball]. This year, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't liking the Royals, then I remembered they knocked out my A's last year. The Giants' win in 2014 provided a measure of redemption.

As for this year's WS, the Mets bullpen cost their team three games. Hard to win that way.

Stanford Cardinal not Cardinals, as it is the color.

Go Royals! What a fun team to watch.

That was a great, great series. I was sure they'd lose for the first 8 innings, then thought maybe they could win for the ninth, and when Hosmer came tearing down the base path (I screamed "You idiot!" when I saw him jump. Shows what I know) & scored, I knew it was their year. You just knew.

Great times in KC, all schools closed tomorrow for the parade, expecting a couple of hundred thousand people. Hey, after a long stretch that included four straight years with 100 losses this is special.
