Went to my usual LBS here in Taiwan and found these nice little tools at the shop. The "rubber grinder" thing is to help take out the double side tape off the rim after the tubular tires are taken off. The other tool is a 2-in-1 chain link pliers.

Anyone see any good ideas/tools around your LBS? Share it with the forum.

Too cool, thanks for sharing.

Have you had a chance to use the rubber wheel? I'd be curious to hear more about it.

I haven't used the tool personally but the mechanic says that the gizmo is a finger-skin saver. In Asia they have to give full turn-key service once the customer buys the tubular tires - demount them, clean them, and mount again.

The snap link tool is genius if it works.

Looks to work the exact same way as the kmc pliers work, just two pliers in one. Should work perfect, as the kmc's do.

Here's the 2 in 1 tool on the 'bay, cheaper than other online retailers it appears:

It works very well. I have had one for 4 years and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

Christian. The rubber thing is not in any official catalog but my LBS can order. The adapter thing can be bought separately to match the Dremel. I wished I had these things when I had my HED tubulars!

a dremel does not develop the torque needed for that rubber thing to remove glue or taper.

3M sells an eraser wheel that I have always wanted to try for this, you have to use a drill or similar to drive it. It is an autobody part and you can order from many sources. I have used it to remove VHB tape and it works a treat. Alas, I quit riding tubulars 30 years ago and don't plan to start again now.

I tried the stripe removal tool 30 years ago to clean tubular glue. it didn't work.
This ball shaped tool with an air driver might work.

I use the Astro Pneumatic Tool Co. 400 E wheel in a cordless drill; it works well to clean my carbon rims down to bare carbon. It was rather messy, with blobs of glue flying off but the only way I have found to get down to a bare surface. I do not use it every time, only after several applications of glue. It took about 30 mins per wheel.
