I'm thinking of building a somewhat budget Ti gran fondo/gravel bike and am looking for input/opinions. I would like to go disc brakes and considering habanero or carver for the frame.

Any input is appreciated. Thoughts?

I just bought a Mosaic. It was pricey as I went with the butted tubes but the non butted tube version is priced right just a little heavier. I would highly recommend them as the quality is the best of the best. As well as their turn around time was less than 6 weeks.

Because it's not about Tom Brady, VW, the stock market, etc.

I agree and know those guys but 3 times the $ of Hab or other offshore ti frames, kinda apples and oranges, IMHO..OP mentioned 'somewhat budget'...

Curious... how expensive are Mosaic's anyway? Prices aren't listed on their website. The Radavist had some pics of a GS-1, and said the price was $3700 for F/F/HS?!? That seems incredibly high for steel.

Titanium.

I think the GS is steel. I guess it stands for Gravel Steel as they also have the GT Gravel titanium modell.

That do sound exp for steel.. Perhaps a missprint? But could be correct one never knows these days..

Id also like to hear the cost for a non butted ti mosaic.

Based on my personal experience I can recommend Independent Fabrication, but they aren't really a 'budget' builder. They do, however, make a super quality product.

Have a look at least. Window shopping is free.

double butted ti frames are around $5K. No butted ti frames are around $3.9K. You get CK headset and enve fork with it.

I don't think the Ti GS/GT is on their website but its availible. As I said the craftsmanship is the nicest I have seen. Although, its hard for me to admit my TI IF did not near the quality of the mosaic. I was very surprise to learn this.

Agreed its apples and oranges. But the OP did write "somewhat budget". This could mean highend no butted ti frame. That's why I threw out there.

I recently took delivery of a Carver custom ti gravel/cross/utility frame, Working with Davis Carver was an excellent experience, and the bike is great. All details were correct, the specs are right on, and the bike rides great.

I could not be happier, and would certainly buy one again.

7 weeks from order to delivery.

Thanks to all for the input, I appreciate all the feedback.

So far I've narrowed it down to 3 options.

1. Ren Omen
2. Carver vs Habanero

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a mosaic. If anyone has something interesting, I'm a 54 road frame, thinking 52/53 cross.

Foundry has some very nice options out there, if you can get your hands on one. Looked like most of those went pretty fast. There're some great options from Salsa, too.
