To grease or not to grease? When putting a cassette on a hub spline, do you grease the cogs or spline? My campy record cassette has plastic spacers and the XT mtn bike cassette has metal spacers. Does this matter?

Thanks and regards,
Keith

Particularly the threads. I am a believer in lubing the interface between cogs and body too.

wherever 2 pieces of metals are touching, grease should be used. This is REALLY important where there are threads involved.

And, even if it doesnt do anything..As my Jewish mother would say: How could it hurt?

Good luck,

Steve

PS: I grease the freehub splines, fwiw.

I grease the lock ring threads but not the splines.

As mentioned above grease only threads on the lockring! Anything else than that and it will only collect dirt and grime...
