Does anyone have any experience with Focus bikes? Thinking acquiring a Cayo NOS frameset for a winter project.

There are a decent number of them where I live and everyone who has one seems to be pretty happy with it.

Had an aluminum Mares from 2010 that didn't fit me well for cross. It made a great gravel race bike, very stable, but it rode like a jackhammer with smaller-than-30mm tires. I sold it and bought a better-fitting CX bike since that was its main purpose.

People have very good things to say about Cayos, Izalcos, etc.

focus's seem to have pretty small headtubes relative to frame size on their cx models...thats about all i have to say on the subject.

I have a Mares Carbon Cross bike and love it. On the heavy side but tough as nails. Good buddy is on his 3rd Izalco and will not ride anything else. Geo is a bit on the big side in my experience. Just a heads up.

I noticed this to be true when I was looking for a used frame for this season. Apparently the new frames have a different geometry with a larger HT.

Same here...
Mine is a 2011 Mares 1.0 CX Carbon which I bought as f/f combo off eBay. Built it up as my bad weather bike and really like it.

I have a 2012 Izalco and really love it. Not a weight weenie, but handles great, rides smooth, and has treated me well.

The current Izalco Max frame weighs in at 720 gr! Not bad!

I have a Mares cross bike that I like a lot. It's plenty light, actually. It'd be better with an extra cm or two of head tube.

I ride a FOCUS mountain bike. Works as expected...

As others may have mentioned the new CX geo has a taller headtube.

Great riding bikes.
