View Full Version : What's your favorite "lean it against the wall" bike rack?

My two primary criteria are 1) it has to be the two-bike style, and 2) given where I want to use it, I think wood would look much better than plastic or metal. (Cool looking is a plus, but functional and reasonably priced are certainly up there too.)

As I slowly build up my motorbike gear I need a place to hang stuff like the jacket (s), pants, etc. I don't want to use the hall closet (which is pretty full anyway) because I want the stuff somewhere that has better air flow so sweat and other stuff can evaporate faster.

It's occurred to me that a "lean against the wall" bike stand could very easily be used as is (or modified if necessary) to support hangers on which I would put the moto gear, and I have a perfect spot for it against a wall in my home-office.

TIA

Not wood...but...How about IKEA Stolman?

Thanks Mark. I thought about Ikea but hadn't had a chance to see what they have.

(To non-St Louis folks, Ikea just opened a store here a few weeks back - I guess we're moving up in the world of diy Scandinavian furniture.)

I use a 1 UP. 2 with 3rd bike addition.

No need to lean against a wall. It folds up much more compact than that. I just fold it up and put it back in it's box.

Ralph, I think we aren't on the same wavelength.

This is the sort of think I had in mind:

Sorry....I was thinking about my old receiver hitch bike rack that took up a whole wall leaning against it. That looks like a fine system to save space in a garage.

I recently bought two racks on CL, along the lines of the one Louis posted, but really much nicer. One homemade and one commercial. I paid $25 for the homemade (the nicer one) and $35 for the vintage commercial one. I'll snap some pics tomorrow.

I'd scour CL. I got both of mine in Ann Arbor, not a huge market.

Hooks from high on the wall to hang the bike by the rear dropout... three on the wall this way, and three others sit below them. My wife is very tolerant.
