Any suggestions for fixing a couple small dents/dimples on a seat tube.

Could a frame builder fill the dents or ???

google something like... roll dents out in a frame.

Yes a builder can fill the dents, thats not a problem, but in general depends a lot of the cost of the frame too.

What you can do too is to fill them up with acrylic paste, not bondo but 3m stuff, that one will move with the metal and wont crack after a few years. Cheaper and faster IMO.

At the top of the pic you can see 2 small dimples from the FD clamp.

Why would you bother "fixing" that? Just put another FD clamp on it.

I agree but yikes, some kind of gorilla tightening of a front der clamp.

There is no effecting and practical way to remove the dents from the tube here. The only real option is to have a painter fill the dents during a repaint.

But...unless you are going to run without a front derailleur and the dents bother you so much you can't enjoy the bike then I would leave them alone. There is no structural issue here to lose sleep over so this is all about your personal tolerance of the look.

I hope that helps.

if you installed a shim like this over the dents and under the fd. Not sure about dimensions of that seat tube and derailleur spec:

I bought a frame off of feebay and didn稚 see a dent like this on the tt until it arrived, I really like the frame so I decided to keep it. I will be getting it repainted at some point, I will be having the painter fill in the dent before painting. I would not worry too much about those, IMO not worth stripping the frame and repainting unless it need a new paint job.

I have to agree. Wouldn't the new clamp just cover the same spot, and present the same peril again, anyway?

What about one of those paint-less dent removal car guys? They did magic on my 2001 accord.

Leave it alone you are just going to make it worst.

This kind of thing is often suggested but it's not a practical, or effective, way to go.

The steel used for car bodies is soft as butter and a very low strength material. The steel used in making bike tubes is much less ductile and workable and of course much harder. So even if the paintless dent guy could get his tools into the area he would have no room to swing the tool (being inside a small tube) and it is much too hard a material for the spoons to cold work anyway.

It would be cool if this worked but it just doesn't.

I agree the dent is only cosmetic and is hidden under the FD. I'm thinking to have the frame re-finished so I thought it would be a good time to have the dents fixed.

Appreciate the feedback :)
