I have a ttt Bertoni quill stem which has no marking for max height minimum insertion

There is a spot where it has an indentation area that has 115 in it

It is a round circle with the aforementioned indentation it has depth to it

Thanks

if slamming is not an option, no more than 1/2 of the quill should be exposed.

i can post up a pic later if you want the for-reals measurement, but that's the ballpark.

the indent you refer to is marked with the stem size. That is NOT the minimum insertion line. Better safe than sorry!

The max line would be stamped on the back side of the stem, around 70mm down from the top. You need to figure out which model stem it is. The "Bertoni" is a panto.

insertion line would normally appear above size marking

That is what I thought it was not the minimum

Will try to figure out model

The 70mm may be a good place to start

Thanks

The top of the cone or wedge MUST be BELOW the lowest steerer thread. If you tighten the stem and the wedge presses on threaded portion, you risk breaking the steerer. If this happens when you are riding.....

Some forks have a long threaded portion so as to fit a wider range of headtubes, so you should pull your fork out to check and do a dry run with your stem to see how high you can position it before the wedge hits the threads.
