I'm looking to run a front derailer, but my bike doesn't have a cable stop. Would it be better to get one of those zip-tie-on cable stops, or a DM derailer and run full-length cable? Maybe doesn't matter...

Thanks.

Depending on the size of the downtube, maybe something like this would work.

I would still need a cable stop along the DT, right? Wouldn't it be simpler to get a top pull with a cable stop on the ST?

What kind of shifter? No shifter boss? Bar ends?

I should also mention, I went the clamp-on cable guide route once in the past. My frame also didn't have the little plate that keeps the clamp from sliding down, so I had to use a piece of inner tube to keep it from slipping. It worked fine, and mine was for FD and RD.

I would probably go with a stem mount or bar-end shifter. I have a microshift bar mount, so will probably go with that first to test it out, but would look awkward on a cross bike with drop bars.

Thanks for the info and the link above. I see there is even a clamp on DT shifter boss, which opens up more options.

Just go 1x10/11 if it's a cross bike?
