Any home anodizers out there?

Hi, all. Long time lurker, first time poster, thinking about winter projects.

I recently found out that anodizing seems to be relatively simple, on paper, anyway. I am wondering if anyone has done it at home with pretty components with satisfactory outcomes. I would like to polish off scratches (a LOT of them) from an otherwise beautiful Campagnolo crankset and re-anodize it so as not to be a slave to Simichrome afterwards.

Any thoughts as to likelihood of a nice finished product or will I be cursing my very birth. I do realize the lettering will disappear.
