What's your preferred tool for checking chain wear/ stretch?

I've had the Park CC-2 for years. Thought I'd treat myself to a new toy/ tool and Black Dog's thread has me thinking chains.

Of the ones currently available, the only one that actually works correctly is the Shimano TL-CN40/TL-CN41:

Ruler or Rohloff. The rest aren't as accurate.

The CC-2 works fine. I always double check with a ruler once the CC-2 indicates its time to change (.75) but, so far its always been pretty much dead on.

Ruler works for me, usually I can tell by feel when a chain needs changing, something just feels amiss. Go to check and see that indeed the chain is a bit streched. Sometimes I will also pull on the chain while its on the big ring and see how much slack I get. I have had good expeirnces with KMC chains over Campy and Shimano. Sram chains seem to hold up well for me too.

I use a steel ruler.

the last KMC chain I used had 10,600 miles on it and was still within spec...

I just changed it out because I was tired of measuring it.

I have both the Park CC-3 and Rohloff Caliber 2 and I trust the Rohloff. Both have the 0.075 and 0.1 mm measurement but I can get "Pass" reading on the Park and "Fail" on the Rohloff. The Rohloff has the curved ends that seem to slide just right into the chain.

I have used many different wear indicators and the Rohloff is the one I grab now.
I also wish Rohloff made the HG Check cog wear indicator tool for 11 speed. The one that they made was for 8 or 9 speed.

They also make one of the best 8/9 speed chains ever. It lasts a lot longer than other chains. I wish they made a 10 and 11 speed chain.

I keep multiple chains in rotation, and hang the cleans one up on a small screwdriver. One of them is a new 10sp that I don't use, and I can easily see how much longer the used ones are by comparing them to it.
