I have a set of SRAM 46/36 chainrings that are currently on a SRAM Rival 22 crankset. They have the hidden bolt thats behind the crank arm.

I'm switching to one of the older style SRAM rival OCT cranks so I can use a stages powermeter.

Will my hidden bolt chainrings work with a traditional crank?? I'm hoping I dont have to buy a new set of chainrings.

Thanks for the help guys!

You can rotate them 180 degrees, the chain drop pin will be at the wrong location...

Wait so if I rotate them 180 degrees, will the chain drop pin then be at the right location?

Just wanted to clarify.

Rotate them 180 degrees so the shift ramps/pins are in the correct location. The pin will be in the wrong location and there is nothing you can do about it.

Thanks for the info!

So what are the effects of the pin being in the wrong location?

I'm trying to decide if its worth buying the non-hidden bolt version of the same chainrings.

Aesthetics, nothing to prevent the chain from being caught between the big ring and the crankarm, and a small chance of your shoe rubbing against the pin.

You can take a dremel to the pin and remove it to address the first and third issues. The middle issue can usually be remedied by having your front derailleur set up properly.
