Yesterday at a CX race I cracked a Time ATAC XC6, the 4th one I've broken in well under a year. They all go in the same place: the plastic body cracks and then breaks at the point where one of the axles holding one of the "arches" goes through the pedal body. I'm under 170lbs, although I guess I ride pretty hard. Still, 4 pedals breaking in the same way in under a year? It looks like a really obvious weak spot in the design of the pedal, but I can't find many complaints about this online.
So, a few questions that I'm hoping the Paceline hive-mind can help me with:
(1) Has anyone heard of this problem?
(2) Does anyone know if the more expensive XC 8's would be stronger?
(3) Is there anything I could be doing wrong?
And, yeah, I know I could try Crank Bros, Look S-track, and SPD... I've tried them all and for various reasons much prefer the ATACséˇside from the fact that I keep breaking the damn things.
Thanks in advance.
