Which are you supposed to use when?

The regular stuff is liquid latex (at least it was the last time I bought some in 2003). So what's the extreme?

If I recall, the Extreme stuff is to repair a flat after it happens, you squirt it in and it seals the hole, then pump up the tire. The Standard stuff is to be used as a preventative measure, squirt it in no, then pump up the tire and it'll seal the hole as soon as it happens.

I am curious to know how long the standard sealant lasts once you put it in, surely it dries out, no?

Yeah, the regular stuff eventually does dry out. It takes a surprisingly long time, though.
