When I first got this http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=153997&highlight=CROWN+JEWEL I was a little disappointed. To me it felt lethargic and dead. On Monday I replaced the wheels with RS81's and it came alive. Now it is a keeper. Anybody else have a similar experience

Yes, I swapped out some brick RS010's for some Chinese carbon and saved 500 or so grams and it felt like a new bike.

Absolutely! I have a Moots that I absolutely couldn't stand until a different set of wheels totally changed the feel and responsiveness of the bike. It's now one of my favorites. I've witnessed this several times. Wheels can make all the difference!

Yup, on my Merckx Corsa Extra. Felt dead and sluggish at first, I was pretty bummed. Then I tried 3 different wheel sets and now I love it. Surprisingly a cheaper more flexible wheel set felt better than a nice custom built White Industries set. Wheels are a key ingredient to get right for sure.

Yes. Wheels, tires, frame, etc. and rider are a coupled system. The response of the system as perceived by the rider depends on how well everything works together.

Wheels/tires can have a huge impact on how a bike feels and rides. Glad you sorted it out.

wheels and tires might only be a small percentage of the overall weight, but lightweight wheels sure make a bike feel snappy.

High quality wheels and tires are mandatory on a high quality bicycle.

My Pacenti wheels improved on the already stellar ride of my Bedford.
