Can someone educate me please? He leaves Team Sky to start his own team But his team still is sponsored by sky/pinarello/and rapha. the only difference seemed to be were the helmets. so is it a win win for Sky? at the Tour of Britain. Thanks

The only thing I know is that he has a developmental team. And probably that's the reason he has the same stuff than the big team.

It is a spin off development team that is sponsored by the Sky sponsors. Wigo brings a lot of attention and is a good value for the sponsors. It allows him to focus on his track preparations for the Rio Olympics and move away from the pressure and strain of the world tour while being able to give a bit back to the sport.

It's also part of the pro-nat idea that Brailsford had. It enables chunks of the GB track team to ride road as well as track events, e.g. 3/4 of the GB team pursuit squad rides for Team Wiggins.

He's on also SRAM instead of Shimano. And, he's riding 170mm cranks on the road - I presume as training for the track.

Team Wiggins exists so he can continue to get paid and get his ego stroked while pretending to still be racing on the road.

I'm pretty sure he is getting paid more outside of his cycling wage than he is from it. He is a British icon. The Tour of Britain went through my home village last year and the preparation and crowds were huge because of Wiggins.

The team exists so Wiggins can show off his new pot belly to the rest of the pro peloton.

Interesting that he's sticking with mechanical rim brakes with the Bluetooth shifting.
