Does anyone have a picture of the original Thomson stem on a 1in steerer? I like the idea of the concealed steerer clamp but I'm not sure if it will look too bulky on a 1in steerer with 1in spacers.

If it does look out of place, you could use a 1 1/8 shim under larger spacers.

I thought about that. I think I found pictures.

Does the 2x look more natural without using larger spacers?

I think it looks better with the larger spacers.....but it's hard to say for certain until it's in front of you.

It does look better. Trying to decide if it looks acceptable.

Looks quite bulky/chunky.

This might not help too much, but I have a slammed X2 on a 1 in. steerer tube. The X2 is much slimmer and looks way better than the 3T arx pro I had on before it. matches the diameter of the smaller tubing a little better.
The shim is 40mm long, so I use a 1 1/8 10mm spacer above it with a 1 1/8 top cap. It looks like everything is 1 1/8, but the steerer tube is 1 in.

Best picture I have, but I can retake it at a better angle if you want.

Thanks. I think the only way I will be able to slam the stem like that is with something zero degrees.

Anyone have a 2x with spacers on both sides?

Def the cleanest stem option, not ideal, but much less bulky than anything else.
